Meta's New AI ChatBOT
Meta announced a groundbreaking tool today: AI Studio. This innovative platform lets you create virtual characters with personalized traits, interests, and personalities—even based on your own unique characteristics. For creators, this means your digital twin can now engage with fans directly in their DMs.
“Every creator can build an AI version of themselves or an assistant that their community can interact with,” said Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg. He shared this exciting news during a fireside chat at the SIGGRAPH conference with Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, the powerhouse behind today’s AI revolution, driven by their cutting-edge GPU chips.
Meta has just unveiled that AI Studio will begin rolling out to Instagram Business account users today, with availability expanding to all Meta users in the US over the next few weeks. You can access this tool at ai.meta.com/ai-studio and through the Instagram app, with additional access via WhatsApp, Messenger, and the web.
Zuckerberg shared that users will be able to create custom AI chatbots for various purposes, such as entertainment or personal support. For instance, you could role-play scenarios like asking for a raise or resolving an argument with a friend. “You can basically role-play that and see how the conversation will go, and get feedback on it,” he explained.
TheAI Studio will offer users control over who their chatbots interact with and the topics they discuss. The usage policy explicitly prohibits creating chatbots that impersonate real people other than the user themselves. Additionally, it restricts the creation of chatbots based on historical figures, religious figures, mass murderers, or any entities that could be considered hateful, explicit, or illegal.
Over the past year, Meta has emerged as an AI success story, driven by its bold move to offer powerful AI models for free. Just last week, the company launched an advanced version of its large language model, Llama. This release provides developers, researchers, and startups with free access to a model that rivals the capabilities of the paid version behind OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Meta’s new chatbots are built on the latest iteration of Llama, ensuring they leverage cutting-edge AI technology for superior performance.
